Carolyn’s Irish Rose Blanket
I just wanted to share with you a HUGE blanket that one of my customers, Carolyn, has just finished.

Crochet Irish Cabbage Rose Motif blanket in Brown Sheep Cotton Fleece - Queen Size
She used over 50 balls of Brown Sheep Company Cotton Fleece and crocheted square Cabbage Rose afghan motifs in a huge variety of colours. It took her over 2 years to complete and weighs a tonne! But I think it looks brilliant! Well done Carolyn!
FREE PATTERN – Maree’s Victorian Baby Booties
My knitter Maree has been hard at work writing a pattern for a lone baby bootie brought in to the store by a customer. The bootie belonged to her as a child and was knitted by her Grandmother whom has since lost the pattern. Maree agreed to look at the bootie and write up the pattern for her (for a small fee of course!), BUT has very kindly agreed to allow me to publish it for you FREE of charge! How nice is that? Particularly as it took her the better part of a week to work it out! LOL!
I forgot to take a picture of the booties before the customer took them home but basically they are a Mary-jane style bootie with a double-thickness sole in garter stitch. You knit the sole first and then pick up the stitches around it and knit the body of the bootie.
They are knitted in 3 ply wool which ends up being for a 6-9mth baby. If you want them bigger, do them in a 4 ply/fingering, or if a smaller size is required, knit in 2 ply or laceweight.
Enjoy the pattern and if you knit them up, please send us a picture!
Customer Project – Great American Aran Afghan
A customer of mine came in before I went away and showed me her beautiful finished blanket – from the book Great American Aran Afghan by XRX Books.
She used ‘Natural Heather’ in Lion Brand Wool-Ease – a lovely soft, 80% acrylic, 20% lambswool yarn.
Just perfect for blankets as it is only $5.50 a ball and machine-washable – yay!

Customer Projects – Mitred Knitting
Here are some pics of recent customer projects people have brought in to show me:
1. Boku Mitred Jacket from Plymouth
Chris is a big fan of long-colour change yarns from Noro so was pleased when she saw this pattern which I think looks fabulous on her! She used a combination of Noro Silk Garden and Plymouth Boku – both long-colour change yarns, both 10 ply (worsted weight)

2. Continuing with the mitred knitting theme, Ida knitted this lovely blanket, which is a large knee-rug size, from a combination of Bernat Mosaic (long-colour-change acrylic) in the ‘Medusa’ colourway (burgundym, Rust, black, mustard) and Bernat Super Value in Burgundy:
Customer Project – Crocheted Joseph Coat by Jenny King
Liisa, from The Quilter’s Corner (two shops up from me) has been busy crocheting her own Joseph Coat, designed by Jenny King, and came into the shop today to show it off!
She used 5 balls of Noro Taiyo and an 8mm crochet hook.
You can download a copy of the pattern here.
Customer Project – Double Moss Stitch Blanket
Here is a lovely blanket that one of my customers brought in to show me today:
It is simply double moss stitch squares in the following colours of Red Heart Super Saver:
Gemstone Multi, Plum, Real Teal and Soft White
It was knitted by Shirley from the Gap Knitter’s Group and will be going to charity.
Well Done Shirley!
Customer Project – Final Winner!
Congrats to Lynn who has won herself my last free copy of Crochet World!
Lynn crocheted this pretty, feminine vest using Patons Decor – a soft blend of 75% acrylic, 25% wool. The yarn used was a multicolour in shades of sand, blue and cream. It is edged with a solid blue. The pattern is ‘Annie’s Attic Easy Crocheted Jacket’, available by download here.

Thanks Lynn – look out for your free copy of Crochet World – coming soon to your letterbox!
FREE Crochet World Magazine – winners
Thanks to the two readers who submitted their projects. Here is their lovely work:
Lara crocheted some gorgeous cardigans from Interweave Crochet:
This is what she had to say about her projects:
I crocheted myself this Chloe Cardigan in NaturallyCaron.com Spa, in Ocean Spray. It took five balls, with a 5.0mm hook. The pattern is from Interweave Crochet, Spring 2010. It was easy for me to crochet because I’d already crocheted each of my daughters the small version, the Clarity Cardigan, also in NaturallyCaron.com Spa (Ocean Spray for my older daughter, and in Green for my younger). This is lovely yarn to use and the resulting garments have beautiful drape.
Kylie is new to crochet and she crocheted a newborn baby diaper cover from Patons Shetland Chunky which she got from my bargain bin!

She used an 8mm hook. Kylie also has some fab projects to view on her blog.
We still have ONE copy left so if you would like one, send pics of your projects and details to: info (at) yarnover (dot) come (dot) au
