Kollage Yarns Knit-a-Longs 2010

Kollage Yarns Feed Your Creativity Program – Cassandra Cowl

Finally I have the shop sample of the Cassandra Cowl finished, blocked and sewn!

It is smaller lengthways than it should be.  The finished sample according to Kollage specs is supposed to be 6″ x 20″.  Mine was 7″ x 16″.  So it really only fits a nice thin-necked person a la Audrey Hepburn, buuuuut it looks okay.  Shows off the yarn nicely.

This is it being blocked:

I bought some cheap foam tiles from Crazy Clarks, laid out a towel on top and then blocked it with T-Pins.  The pins just pushed straight down into the foam and held there firmly – worked a treat!

And this is the cowl laid flat after I sewed on some buttons from my button stash:

New Kollage Yarns September/October KAL now available for purchase

Kollage Yarns’s KAL program ‘Feed Your Creativity’ is rolling along nicely – can you believe we’re half-way through the second project??

The kit for september/october is now up online and available for purchase.  It is the Cassandra Cowl knitted in ‘Scrumptious’ – a blend of angora and silk:

I am blocking the store sample as we speak – will post pics ASAP.

Next month’s KAL is for these cute mittens – kinda off-season for us, I know, but you may have someone who lives in the Northern Hemisphere and could really do with some toasty mittens right about now!  If not, why not start on them now and you’ll be done in time for winter. he he he…

Kollage Yarns – Feed your Creativity Program 2010

This year and into 2011, American Yarns is participating in Kollage Yarns’s “Feed Your Creativity” program.

It is a series of 10 Knit-a-Longs over 10 months, starting with the Cabled Hat in ‘Glisten’ – a luxe yarn in alpaca and silk with a silver ‘estilina’ thread running through it:

The kits are $45 and include 2 skeins of Glisten and the pattern for the Cabled Beanie and Cowl, packaged in a cute plastic, zippered satchel which you can use and re-use to store your project whilst knitting and then for other projects in the future.

The August kits are on sale now – we have a selection of colours in stock and until the middle of September, we are running the KAL every Thursday morning  – come into the store, grab a kit and let us help you cast on and get started.

This month’s kit – the Cabled Beanie – is suitable for intermediate knitters.  Knowledge of how to do cables is required.
